2009 in review

Undoubtedly the highlights of 2009 were playing Snug the Joiner in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ at the Madinat Jumeirah Theatre in Dubai in June, and playing Joan of Gaunt and The Lady Bishop of Carlisle in ‘Richard II’ in York in November. These two productions have rekindled my passion for Shakespeare, and inspired me to look for further opportunities to perform in Shakespeare’s plays, and other classics.

My two favourite films of the year were ‘Redundant’, filmed in Stoke on Trent by a group of students from UCCA Farnham, and ‘Go Grimly’ filmed in Leeds.

I also enjoyed and learned from casting director workshops with Mark Summers, Andy Brierley, Nicci Topping and a two day workshop with Jo Adamson and Tonicha Lawrence.
The two most unusual events were a rehearsed reading of ‘Voices from the Edge’ for Ice and Fire: Actors for Human Rights at the Carriageworks in Leeds, and a radio drama workshop of ‘Juggling Clouds’ written by Jan Perry, which subsequently formed part of a script-in-hand performance also at the Carriageworks.
