9 March 2011 – St Paul’s and Seize the Day

I have just completed filming on a lovely quirky 3 minute film called “Seize the Day”, directed by Ron Wright  for the Reed competition, on the theme of ‘Mondays’. You can watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eN9tTaNFODk

I have also been cast as Dorothy, a middle aged primary school teacher in a new play called “St Paul’s”, written by Jonathan Hall. It will be performed in the studio at Bradford Playhouse on the 4th,5th,6th and 7th of May. I hope you are free to come and watch!

I’ve also been developing a variety of skills. I continue to attend ActUpNorth classes in screen acting in Leeds, and also the acting class led by Jo Adamson and Tonicha Lawrence. I recently attended master classes with John Godber and Steve Nesbitt – both of which were both entertaining and enlightening!  I have recently passed my LCM Grade 6 in Classical Singing, and I take my Grade 6 Musical Theatre Singing in a few weeks time. I’m also working towards my LCM Grade 4 in Recorder (Descant and treble), for an exam in April, so there is plenty of hard work going on!

“The Interview” attracted good audiences at Bradford Playhouse, and was well received. It is an outstandingly good play, telling the story of the holocaust from Hitler’s ascent to power in 1933 to the Liberation of Auschwitz in 1945 through the life story of one survivor of Auschwitz.

I am told that “For Better for Worse” will now be aired on the Crime and Investigation Channel in March or April. I will let you know as soon as I know myself when that will be.

In the meantime, I have been busy with a  number of auditions, various student films, and several days of roleplay work. I am currently waiting for the results of auditions for a feature film and two new plays. I’ll post any further developments here on my website.

10 November 2010 The Interview and For Better for Worse

Rehearsals for “The Interview” are now in the final stages, and we perform at Bradford Playhouse, Chapel Street, Bradford BD1 5DL from 18th-20th November. Don’t miss this brilliant new play about the Holocaust; tickets are available from the theatre or from www.HexisProductions.com.

As well as rehearsing for “The Interview”, I have also just finished filming a piece for the Crime and Investigation channel called “For Better for Worse”, which, I am told, will air in the New Year. More details when I know them.

Also in recent weeks I have enjoyed acting in two corporate films, one for the Co-operative and one a training film to do with courter-terrorism, and in a low budget short called “Daydreams”, directed by Yemi Bamiro, which will be entered for festivals around the UK.

I am enjoying the varied work enormously – oh, and don’t forget to buy your tickets for “The Interview” – it is only 6 days until we open!

19 September 2010 – The Interview and Moira Benson

“The Interview” is a new play about the Holocaust, which played two nights at Leeds Town Hall in June and will now play three nights at Bradford Playhouse 18-20 November. It has had very enthusiastic reviews, and a tour is planned next year. It tells the whole story of the Holocaust from Hitler’s inauguration as Chancellor to the Liberation of Auschwitz through the lifestory of one person, and whilst doing so debates the causes of genocide and what can be done to prevent it.
Don’t come just to see me – I have only a small part, but do come to see a challenging, gripping, heartbreaking play about issues which concern us all.
 
And then I will be performing “Moira Benson” a monologue by Helen Crawford on two occasions. Saturday 9th October 9.15pm at Ilkley Playhouse as part of the Ilkley Literature Festival, and again at Midget Gems Upstairs at the Carriageworks in Leeds on Saturday 23 October at 7.45pm.

29 July 2010 — The Interview, and the Blue Couch

I have just been cast in a 30 minute comedy pilot for television, called the Blue Couch, in which I play a feisty, ‘in your face’ pub cleaner / barmaid called Doreen, which promises to be a lot of fun!

I am rehearsing for the next performances of The Interview, a new play about the Holcaust, which will be performed at Bradford Playhouse 18th, 19th and 20th November. The performances in Dewsbury and Leeds had excellent reviews, and the Bradford performances have every promise of being even better. The writer and director, Jayson Bartlett also hopes to take the play on tour next year.

Sadly The Importance of Being Earnest has been cancelled, because of difficulties with casting and rehearsal schedules. We are hopeful that it may be reinstated in the autumn, but, as always there are no guarantees.
